Anti-ICE protest in Oldham County

Triggered by reports of a JCPS senior being held and prevented from graduating

About 100 people showed up at the Oldham County Detention Center to call for the release of a young person being held by ICE, and to call for Oldham County to stop taking money from the federal government to hold prisoners for ICE.

The action was part of the national Communities Not Cages Day of Action, opposing immigration detention expansion nationwide, and was organized locally by these organizations:

  • The Solidarity Project
  • Louisville Showing Up for Racial Justice (LSURJ)
  • Indivisible Louisville
  • 50501
  • The KY Alliance
  • Kentucky Citizens for Democracy

Forward Kentucky contributor Paul Wesslund attended the event, and shared these photos and videos.
