U.S. Rep. Andy Barr’s Senate campaign office in Lexington was damaged Feb. 26 by a person being sought by local police, according to a statement from his team and law enforcement, in an incident the candidate said he believes was centered around a controversial ad for his campaign.
A statement from Lexington Police said officers responded to the scene that afternoon at about 2:45 p.m. on a vandalism report. The suspect was no longer present at that time, the statement said, and no injuries were reported.
“The Lexington Police Department will work with the Capital Police Department concerning this incident,” the department statement said just after 9:30 p.m. Feb 26, urging anyone with any information to contact 859-258-3600, 859-253-2020, or bluegrasscrimestoppers.com. “This remains an active and ongoing investigation. Suspect identification and charges are pending.” ...
Barr, who was not at the office when the incident occurred, said the suspect is “an individual who had called our office like 20 times the day before and was agitated and upset about the TV ad.”
