Changes to Membership Levels and Fees
For the first time in many years, I am changing our membership levels and the fees that go with them. Sort of.
Two key points, right up front:
- If you are currently at the Friend (free), Patron ($5 a month / $55 a year), or Partner ($9 a month / $99 a year) level and want to stay there, you do not have to do a thing. Your costs will not change unless YOU decide to change them.
- But, if you want one of the perks that is at a higher membership level, you’ll have to upgrade your membership to receive that perk.

So what has changed, exactly?
Basically, two things:
- I have added three new membership levels.
- I have moved some perks to higher membership levels.
This chart shows all the changes:
The three new membership levels are Patron Plus, Partner Plus, and Sustainer. (More on Sustainer in a moment.) They are priced at $2 more a month, or monthly times 11 for the annual rate. (Just like before, an annual membership gets you a free month.)
Look at the chart, and you’ll see which perks have moved:
- If you want to get Action Alerts and leave comments, you have to be at the Patron level or higher.
- If you want to get the Daily Wrap or Bruce’s Take in your inbox, you need to be at Patron Plus.
- If you want to use the bill trackers, you’ll need to be at the Patron level.
- And, if you want to get the every-morning General Assembly Update, you’ll need to be at Patron Plus.
Now about Sustainer: I have had some members ask if there could be a significantly higher membership level, for persons who want to provide some extra support for the work. The Sustainer level lets them do that, and in return they get their name, picture, and testimonial on our Sustainer Wall.
So, if you want to change your membership level, just log into the site and click the Account link. Or, click this link to go to the membership portal and hit the Change link. (Wait on the popup.)
An alternate way to customize your membership
Let’s suppose that instead of all those great perks 👍, you’re only interested in the General Assembly Update. You’ve got two choices: you could upgrade to a Partner Plus membership ... or you could use our new Membership Add-Ons.
In order to give interested persons some flexibility, I’ve made it so you can put your regular membership at Patron, then add one or more perks to that base price. Here’s the perks you can add on, and the cost:
- Bruce’s Take – $11 a year
- The Daily Wrap – $22 a year
- The Bill Trackers – $33 a year
- The KYGA Update – $44 a year

The bottom line
If you are wondering why I am making these changes, the answer is simple: I want Forward Kentucky to not only survive, but to grow and thrive. That means getting the word out so more people know about us, which means marketing, which means money.
June of next year will be our 10th anniversary. I want to hit that mark growing and thriving, and I think these changes will help us do that. I hope you agree – and that you will show you agree by supporting the work with your wallet.
