The Kentucky Legislative Ethics Commission has found probable cause that Democratic state Rep. Daniel Grossberg violated the ethics code on three different claims made during an almost year-long ethics investigation.
During a meeting July 8, commission members voted to find probable cause on the following allegations:
- “Conduct relating to intimidating statements or actions toward a private business.” The commission voted 9-0 that there was probable cause.
- “Attempts to obtain contributions in exchange for possible state catering business or private company.” The commission voted 8-1 that there was probable cause.
- “Conduct relating to his interactions with an individual at the Capitol Annex, before, during and after a committee meeting in July 2023 and in his office at the annex involving inappropriate treatment of that person.” The commission voted 8-1 that there was probable cause.
The vote followed hours of private testimony and discussion at the commission’s June and July meetings, where members conducted a closed preliminary hearing.
Because the commission found probable cause that Grossberg had violated the ethics code, a public adjudicatory hearing will be set for a future date.
