A group of residents in Danville gathered with signs and passionate chants to get the attention of a representative they feel isn’t pulling his weight.
Indivisible Danville is an organization of local citizens concerned about the direction the government is going. The group held their signs high, and drivers would honk in support of the mission. The goal is to get Congressman James Comer’s attention to host community events like town halls, something members like Kate Snyder say they haven’t had any luck with.
“During the August recess, traditionally, representatives go home to their districts and listen to their constituents to find out what’s important to them. One of the most important things that elected officials are expected to do is to gather feedback from the people they represent so they’re adequately and accurately hearing what’s important to us, their constituents,” Snyder said.
Whether it’s been calls or attempted visits to Comer’s Danville office, members of Indivisible Danville said they’re doing this because nothing else has worked.
“We’ve made 150 calls over the last two weeks asking him to schedule a town hall here in the town where he has an office, and he hasn’t held any public meetings at all,” Snyder said.
