KDP demands bipartisan action to prevent government shutdown and protect rural healthcare

Chair Colmon Elridge on Trump refusing to even meet with Dems

Via press release

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Today, after President Trump canceled his first and only meeting with Democrats to prevent a government shutdown, Kentucky Democratic Party (KDP) Chair Colmon Elridge released the following statement urging Kentucky Republicans to work with Democrats trying to prevent rural hospitals from closing and families from losing health care:

“President Trump is refusing to meet with lawmakers outside of his own party, punishing millions of voters represented by Democrats. Kentucky Republicans in Congress have two paths forward: work with Democrats to undo the extreme Medicaid cuts rammed through the House and Senate on Trump’s orders, or continue ignoring anyone trying to prevent kids from losing health care. Without bipartisan action, it won’t just be the government that shuts down — it will be 35 hospitals and countless clinics, nursing homes and nonprofits serving rural Kentuckians.”
