Louisville Dems plan rally with former mayor Harvey Sloane

The “Fight for Medicaid & Medicare Rally” will be on Saturday, August 23rd

The Louisville Democratic Party has scheduled a “Fight for Medicaid & Medicare” rally at 9 AM on Saturday, August 23rd, in the Jefferson Square Park at the corner of 6th and Jefferson.

Featured speakers at the rally include former Louisville Mayor Harvey Sloane and Rep. Morgan McGarvey.

According to the press release, “Mayor Sloane, a public health physician who led President Kennedy’s Appalachian Health Program and was the founding director of the Park DuValle health clinic in the West End, is returning to Louisville for this special visit.

“Mayor Sloane is deeply committed to doing all he can for Kentucky—especially as devastating cuts threaten Medicaid and Medicare. He understands firsthand how these cuts will impact our entire health care system.

“Because of Donald Trump and Kentucky Republicans, 35 Kentucky hospitals are at risk of closing. Just yesterday, we learned that Louisville is losing what would have been the first labor and delivery center west of I-65 since the 1970s.”
