Louisville, KY - Members of the Alliance for Retired Americans proudly announced their endorsement of Rep. Morgan McGarvey for reelection to the U.S. House from Kentucky’s 3rd Congressional District today. The Kentucky Alliance for Retired Americans is a grassroots advocacy organization with more than 58,000 members in the state, including 11,400 in the district.
“Congressman Morgan McGarvey has been our voice and leader in Congress protecting and strengthening health care and Social Security for seniors and retirees. He has earned a 100% pro-retiree score in the Alliance’s annual Congressional Voting Record,” said Kirk Gillenwaters, President of the Kentucky Alliance. “We trust him to work to strengthen and increase our hard-earned Social Security and Medicare benefits. He knows that 5 million people in Kentucky rely on Social Security benefits every month. With another term, Morgan will continue the fight for our earned benefits for current and future generations.”
“Every Louisvillian deserves to retire with dignity after a lifetime of hard work,” said Rep. McGarvey. “Whether it’s safeguarding Social Security and Medicare or fighting for quality, affordable health care, this work is more important than ever. I’m honored and grateful to have the support of the Alliance for Retired Americans as we continue fighting to protect our seniors.”
In addition, Gillenwaters praised McGarvey’s vote for legislation to lower drug costs by requiring Medicare to negotiate lower drug prices for seniors; cap out-of-pocket expenses at $2,000 a year; cap insulin copays at $35 per month; and make necessary vaccines free for all Medicare beneficiaries.
“The stakes couldn't be higher for seniors like me. We need Congressman McGarvey in the House fighting anyone who tries to cut Social Security or Medicare,” added Mr. Gillenwaters. “That’s why Morgan is the clear choice for Kentucky seniors.”
