U.S. Rep. Thomas Massie criticized President Donald Trump Feb. 8 for posting a video clip depicting Barack and Michelle Obama as apes a few days earlier on his Truth Social account
After responding to harsh comments the president made about his wife and himself in recent days, Massie, a Republican representing Kentucky's fourth congressional district, said the president “had gone too far” with the post that was deleted after about 12 hours.
“Once you pass certain guardrails, like attacking a man’s spouse or getting into racist tropes, I think that somebody at the White House ... needs to go to the president and just ask him for his phone, and maybe ask him to show the tweet before he sends it out,” Massie said in a interview for CNN’s “Inside Politics.”
