Your weekly update from ForwardKY

Plus the story list and event list

Bruce Maples
Bruce Maples, publisher

Good afternoon! Getting this out a little early this week (making up for weeks when it has been late 😉). And, there are a couple of updates as well, so please read those.
Especially, please take a moment to fill in the survey linked below. Your answers will feed into a second survey that I think is pretty important. (It’s all explained below.)
Thanks for being a member of Forward Kentucky!

A word from our sponsor

This newsletter is sponsored by Joe Graviss, who encourages all of us to remember this updated version of the Serenity Prayer:

God, grant me the patience to work with the unjust systems I cannot change to day; the courage to strategically enact progress when I know I can; and the wisdom to know that despite structural oppression, I can still make a difference. Amen.

Updates

An important internal survey – please read and act!

I need your feedback! I’ve got two questions where your answers will drive (a) an important series of articles and videos, and (b) a possible change to the Activism Calendar.

The first question is an open-ended question: “What should Democrats stand for?” I will take your answers, rationalize them into a list, then send that list back out for you to mark the importance of each to you. That will then be the basis for a series on “What Democrats Stand For.”

Obviously, I have my own list, but I thought it best if I hear from you first! So please answer that question as briefly or as non-briefly as you wish.

The second question is a two-parter: Do you use the Activism Calendar? If the actual activism events were separated from the regular meetings, would you use it more? Right now they’re all together, and to me the regular meetings, while important, really clutter it up. So, I’m thinking of two calendars, one for ongoing meetings and one for non-meeting events.

Here is the link to the survey: https://forms.gle/hCuNNPiopoCoUFyi8

Please fill it in! Your input matters a lot to me, so please share it. Thanks!

A few changes to the web site

I’ve made a few changes to the web site, with more coming over the next few weeks. Some are subtle and maybe not that important, while others are more consequential.

  • Change to the taglines. After some analysis of our content and what gets read, I’ve taken off the old taglines and replaced them with “Objective News • Progressive Values.” It’s not a big change, but it does reflect a tightening of the focus.
  • Pride logo. Since it is Pride month, I changed out our regular logo for a Pride-colored one.
• Additional sharing options. In looking at our followers on social media, it became obvious that we needed a way to share things to Bluesky, since that is our second-highest following behind Facebook. So, I’ve added a “share to Bluesky” button at the top of each article.

And, in something of a surprise, I learned that a number of ForwardKY visitors use Reddit on a regular basis. So, I made sure there was a sharing button for that channel as well.

The main sharing options are at the top of each article. In addition, I add a big red button for sharing at the bottom of many articles. So, it should be even easier for you to share our work on your own social media channels (like Facebook and Bluesky). Please share – it’s one important way we grow!
